Vygotsky Social Learning Theory – Social learning theory of Vygotsky emphasized the social aspects of learning. According to Vygotsky that the learning process will occur if a child is working or handle tasks that have not been studied, but these tasks are still within reach of those who called the Zone of Proximal Development, namely the growth rate slightly above the current one’s progress. Nearest development zone is the difference between what can a child be alone with what can be achieved by the child if he gets help from others, namely a more adult or more competent.According to Vygotsky higher mental functions in general, appears in conversation and cooperation among individuals before the higher mental functions were absorbed into the individual.
Important ideas are very influential in the design and implementations of learning in the classroom are Scaffolding, namely providing assistance to children during the early stages of its development and reduce support and provide opportunities for children to take over greater responsibility as soon as children can do.
The influence of social learning theory of Vygotsky is in the process of learning the teacher is able to create or manage the learning environment of students, and set the tasks to be done students, and provide support so that every student can develop optimally in the zone of proximal development of each. On the one hand, teachers need to seek every student in order to develop themselves each to the maximum, and on the other side pursued the development of thinking abilities through active learning in interaction with the physical and social environment.
Providing assistance in the initial learning is necessary, and certainly to some extent, i.e. when students are able to do it yourself then aid should be stopped. Thus, social learning theory of Vygotsky was essentially to develop the zone nearest the development of each student through the scaffolding in a learning situation that enables social interaction amongst individuals learning and physical, ie, with a variety of relevant learning resources, under the assistance of other individuals are more capable, such as teachers, friends who have more ability than him.
